Developing a National Roadmap to Reopen Public Schools
Challenge
Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and President Biden’s promise to reopen public schools in his first 100 days, a national non-profit sought Program Management support with bringing together public health and education leaders to create a set of tactical tools and resources to reopen schools safely and sustainably.
Discovery & Design
Our team managed a national, independent Task Force, including teachers’ unions, scientists, health professionals, and other organizations representing school, district, and state education leaders to develop a national roadmap to reopen schools. We supported experts in the development of a scientific consensus statement, a Use of Funds advisory memo, and sample language for a Request for Proposal (RFP) outlining service requirements for assessing, planning, and implementing COVID-19 safety improvements to educational facilities.
Driving Impact
- 50 signatories indicating contribution to the national roadmap to reopen schools, including representatives from Ivy League institutions and public health and education organizations
- Recommended guidance for a successful school-based infection prevention and control program to reopen schools during the COVID-19 pandemic
- Extensive collaboration among public health and education leaders on the topic of COVID-19 school health and safety
